  • Wright: Sterling more comfortable at Man City than England

Wed, 15 Aug 2018 03:19:58 PDT Former England striker Ian Wright feels Manchester City give Raheem Sterling the confidence to play his best where as he is under more pressure with England.
  • Manchester City don't need to win the Champions League - Kevin De Bruyne

Wed, 15 Aug 2018 02:59:00 PDT Former Arsenal forward Paul Mariner breaks down how Manchester City were able to dominate the Gunners while urging patience with Unai Emery's side. Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva provided the goals to help Manchester City begin their title defense with a 2-0 win over Arsenal. Manchester City do not need to win the Champions League to be considered successful as the European competition does not demand the same level of consistency it takes to triumph in the Premier League, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has said. De Bruyne, 27, has been a key part of City's rise in recent years, with Pep Guardiola's side clinching the league title after a record-breaking run last season to add to their League Cup triumph. The Champions League, however, has eluded City's grasp with the side...
  • Lionel Messi's Argentina retirement 'would be understandable' - Carlos Tevez

Wed, 15 Aug 2018 02:56:00 PDT Carlos Tevez urges Lionel Messi to rest and think about his future with the Argentina national team because he's one of the nation's biggest idols. Boca Juniors star Carlos Tevez is looking forward to playing against former Argentina teammate Lionel Messi in the Joan Gamper Trophy match at the Camp Nou. Former Argentina international Carlos Tevez would not be surprised if Lionel Messi decides to permanently retire from the national team. Messi, Argentina's captain, is expected to take a break from international competition for the rest of the year and will miss the friendlies against Guatemala and Colombia next month. "It would be understandable if Messi doesn't return to the national team," Tevez told TyC Sports. "When you give and then you are criticised, it becomes very difficult. I've been...

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has extended his contract with the Premier League club until 2023. Ivory Coast international Zaha had been linked with a big-money away from Selhurst Park for much of the summer transfer window, after winning the club's Player of the Year award for a third successive season. However, he stayed and helped Palace to an opening day 2-0 victory at Fulham, scoring his side's second goal at Craven Cottage. • Premier League helped by early deadline but were teams ready to play?

Tue, 14 Aug 2018 12:13:00 PDT The Exploding Heads are here to tell you that the more changes a new football season brings, the more things stay the same. Paul Mariner defends his selections and omissions in the first team of the weekend of the Premier League season. Former Premier League referee Peter Walton and Stewart Robson discuss the key decisions from the weekend. Former Premier League referee Peter Walton and Stewart Robson discuss the key decisions from the weekend. The 2018-19 Premier League season is well and truly underway and for once, that phrase feels appropriate. The English top-flight always commences in mid-August but, after a significant change to the structure of the transfer window, the new campaign will not feature the disastrous three-week period, in which clubs and media were focused more upon moves than matches. Now deadline day has already passed, the games themselves dominate. In years gone by, the first month has been compromised by numerous...
